The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County continue to expanded its efforts to help make Houston public transportation more Eco-friendly, with dozens of diesel-hybrid buses and METRORail. Running between Downtown and Reliant Park, the 7.5-mile electrically powered light rail, reduce both greenhouse gas emissions and noise pollution. Additionally, Houston Metro now has more than 400 clean-running diesel-electric hybrid buses. Here are some Eco-friendly ways you can get around Houston and reduce your carbon foot print in the process.

Rent an electric bike at Revolution E-Bikes in Montrose.
Take the free GreenLink shuttle around downtown Monday through Friday, 6:30am-6:30pm.
Use The Wave jitney shuttle service.
The Rev Eco-Shuttle is also an option.
Ride Houston's light rail system - MetroRail with plenty of room for everyone.
Houston is also currently exploring other sustainable transportation options that include bicycle infrastructure, and carpool programs to help reduce the number of vehicles on the road, thereby lowering emissions.
