Hello again and welcome to another edition of Our Voice by Houston Organic Cleaning Service, where our goal is to help our clients live healthier lives and provide information that will help them reduce their carbon foot print in the process. Today we are answering a few questions about Mildew. What is it? Where to find it? and How to get rid of it?
Mildew is a type of fungal that grows on damp surfaces.
This fungus lives on top of surfaces instead of inside them.
It typically appears thin, flat and powdery, with color ranging from white, gray and light yellow.
Mildew thrive in high moisture, warm, and limited airflow areas like bathrooms and laundry rooms.
Refrigerator drip pans and dishwasher door seals also harbor mildew.
Mildew does have a musty smell.
It does not penetrate deeply into surfaces.
Mildew can be easily wipe away.
For active mildew growth, you can use a solution of diluted white vinegar and clean cloth to clean the area.
In addition to clean the area, ventilation is the most important preventive measure.
Mildew can trigger asthma and allergies.
