What is Pet Dander?

Pet dander are microscopic, lightweight flakes from animals with fur or feathers, such as birds, cats, and dogs that not only trigger allergic reaction in some people but can easily linger in the air and stick to surfaces, including walls, for a very, very long time. While the allergy is not triggered by the fur or feathers, but by the proteins found in the animal’s skin cells, urine and saliva, allergic reactions can vary in symptoms.
Some of the most common symptom include, but not limited to coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing, chest tightness and itchy skin. At Houston Organic Cleaning Service our HEPA filter vacuum does capture 99.7% of tiny particle, that include pet dander. This is in addition to the damp color code cloth we use to trap allergens. Here are a few things you can do to minimize pet dander inside your home.
Use HEPA filters that is designed to capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns.
A vacuum cleaner with HEPA filter will not only pick up the pet dander but will ensure particles stays inside the machine and not released back into the air.
Switching to hard floor such as tile, laminate or hardwood will make it far much easier to clean, unlike carpet that absorb pet dander.
Wash pet bedding and toys once a week in hot water 120 degree or higher.
Grooming your pet regularly is the best way to reduce pet dander. This can be accomplished with regular baths, and brushing to reduce shedding and dander build-up.
